Meet Teegan – Our Big Girl with Big Energy
Teegan is the oldest of the girls, the loudest voice in the room, and hands down the most direct (there’s absolutely no sugar-coating with this one). Now 17 going on 25, she’s got that fierce big-sister energy locked in. Independent to her core, a total mamma’s girl underneath it all, and someone who always knows exactly what she wants — then goes full throttle trying to make it happen.
Right now, Teegan is living back in the UK with my mum (aka Grandma) and her boyfriend Tayler, building her own little world while we continue travelling full-time. She’s looking into flexible ways of making money as a young mum and figuring out how to create a life that works for both her and the baby. She’s doing things in her own way — and honestly, we’re incredibly proud of the young woman she’s becoming.
And yes… life recently threw us a pretty big curveball.
Teegan is expecting a baby — our grandson — and while it definitely came as a surprise, it’s also become a huge new chapter for all of us. Exciting, emotional, terrifying, beautiful… all at once.
As parents, we know more than most how hard teenage parenting can be. Joe and I were just 17 ourselves when we had Teegan. We know the struggles, the fear, the judgement, the growing up overnight — but we also know the love, resilience, and strength that can come from it too.
At the end of the day, no matter how much you try to protect your children from hard lessons or difficult paths, they’ll still push boundaries and make their own choices. Fighting against something that’s already happening only creates distance, and one thing we’ll always choose is connection, support, and unconditional love.
So that’s exactly where we’re at.
Supporting Teegan. Supporting the baby. Supporting this next chapter — even if it looks different to the life we originally imagined.
Fearless has always been the word we’d use for her. Much like her dad, she’s naturally drawn to adrenaline, rebellion, and doing things her own way. But she also values her space and downtime — usually with headphones on and the rest of us at a safe distance. She’s a boundary-pusher by nature, always curious, always experimenting, sometimes making brilliant choices and sometimes questionable ones… but always learning as she goes.
Teegan’s style is unapologetically bold — tattoos, piercings, rap music, dark aesthetics — but beneath all of that she’s also got this deeply soft and spiritual side. Recently, she’s embraced religion in a way that’s been grounding and beautiful to witness. It’s that contrast that makes her so uniquely her.
Creatively, she’s always had her hands in everything — drawing, makeup, sewing, crocheting, crafting — you name it. She’s been a little entrepreneur since she was tiny too, selling homemade creations to neighbours and constantly dreaming up business ideas. We’ve got absolutely no doubt she’ll build something incredible for herself one day.
This new chapter has changed things for us as a family too.
We’re a full-time travel family with no permanent base anymore. We sold everything in the UK to chase adventure, freedom, worldschooling, and a life outside the “normal” path. But now, with a grandbaby on the way, we’re finding ourselves rethinking what balance looks like.
We’re exploring part-time base options so we can be there for Teegan and the baby while still continuing our travels and adventures. It’s a strange mix of emotions — trying to hold onto the life we built while making room for this completely unexpected new season.
But that’s life, isn’t it?
As Buddhism teaches: “Nothing is permanent. Everything is subject to change.”
And maybe that’s where the beauty is too.
Life rarely follows the route you carefully planned out. Sometimes the most meaningful chapters arrive unannounced, disguised as chaos, fear, or change. All you can really do is meet them with love, adaptability, and courage.
For now, Teegan will continue living in the UK with Grandma and Tayler, creating stability for herself and preparing for motherhood in her own way. And further down the line? We’d absolutely love for her and the baby to join us on our travels and adventures around the world. Our family might look unconventional, loud, messy, and constantly evolving — but there will always be room for more memories, more chaos, and more love.
And honestly… we cannot wait to meet our grandson 🩵💕
